Plant Ecologist – Teacher – Dreadlocks Stylist – DJ – Synesthesia Mediator
Marc the Scientist
I worked for 10 years at ETH Zurich as a research assistant in the Plant Ecology Group.
How does climate warming influence the diversity of alpine plants?
With several projects and experiments, we studied how the alpine will react to higher temperatures and how they will be able to compete with other plants, that will be able to migrate upward the mountains.
Marc the Substitute Teacher
Knowledge is power. Learning and teaching have been always drivers in my life. After my research career came to an end, I decided to become a teacher.
At the moment, I work as a substitute teacher in public schools, teaching almost all topics to almost all ages.
Marc the Botany Teacher
Since the beginning of 2022 I have had the honor to work for the University of Zurich as a “Garden-Teacher” in the Botanical Garden. I give tours to school classes and private groups on different subjects relating to plants, ecology, and botany. You should visit the garden, too!
For Teachers
If you are a teacher and you would like to visit the garten with your class, consider following:
Didactical Material
This didactical material (in German) will allow you to plan a visit with your class to the botanical Garden of Zurich yourself.
The Botanical Garden of Zurich
Over 7000 plants from all around the world. It is a magical place.
Marc the Synesthesia Mediator
Synesthesia is a phenomenon where two or more senses are blended. Synesthetes see music in shapes and perceive letters and numbers as colorful personalities.
There are many people with this ability, but most are not aware of it. However, it does not take a lot, to support people in discovering their synesthetic abilities and to integrate it in their daily life.
Synesthesia: an opportunity for improved learning
Synesthesia may help children in learning. For example it provides an opportunity in learning math or new languages. There may be between 0 and 3 Synesthetes in each classroom that could benefit if their teacher could support them in discovering their synesthetic abilities.
For Teachers and Parents
If you suspect one of your student or children to have synesthesia, you can contact me for advice and an assesment.
Marc the Ecstatic Dance DJ
I consider myself as a ceremonial soundscape creator. My aim is to connect people with their body, their emotions, and their sensory experiences of the present moment. The ecstatic dance sets are characterized by a fusion of various folkloric, electronic and ethnical elements to take the dancers on a journey around the world and through different spaces.
